8 beauty facts worth knowing

We are lucky enough to be in an industry full of useful little facts, but after some research, I have discovered that there are a lot of myths and old wives tales.

In this post, I have therefore compiled some beauty facts worth knowing if you want to remain healthy and beautiful. Enjoy!

1. Sugar breaks down collagen and elastin which can cause you wrinkles
If you have a sweet tooth like me, this news will make you cry! Unfortunately, we have to make a choice: look young or eat the whole cake!

2. Going to bed with your makeup can age your skin up to 7 times faster
I can’t tell you enough, you MUST remove your makeup before going to bed even if you're exhausted. Your skin needs to breathe to remain elastic and soft.

3. Exercise can combat wrinkles
Having a run or doing some stomach exercises is good for both health and skin. The boost in blood circulation strengthen blood vessels and increase the renewal of cells.

4. Cucumber doesn't reduce eye puffiness, cold does
Yes, we all heard about that magical power that cucumber is supposed to have on tired, puffy eyes. But guess what? That's a myth! In fact, it's not the vegetable itself which helps you look fresher, it's the cold. You can even put an old runny Camembert on your eyes, as long as it comes from the fridge, it will work!

5. A glass of wine is good for health and skin
The antioxidants and polyphenols contained in wine are known to prevent heart disease by protecting against artery damage. The good news is that they are also good for your skin as it helps softening it.

6. Lettuce and Spinach can reduce the appearance of wrinkles
As they are silicon-rich foods, those vegetables can help keeping a young skin for longer. (So that is why Popeye never ages!)

7. The acidity contained in lemon can help you get away from your oily hair
A lemon wedge mixed with good quality water (such as distilled water) is a great rinse for your hair. It can really help to reduce the oil on your scalp and the best thing is that it doesn't affect your natural PH.

8. Water helps fight off aging
On average, the body of an adult human being contains 60% water. The body renews it on a regular basis and it's therefore essential to stay hydrated by drinking at least 1L of water per day. Not only will it help prevent the destruction of skin cells, but it will also give your skin a healthy glow.
