In the past we have blogged about different aspect of owning a salon, starting a business and individual perspectives on beauty. This blog is about a man who changed the industry, the man who is credited with creating the 'bob' hairstyle -Vidal Sassoon. The BBC notes 5 ways that Vidal Sassoon changed the industry and if you have time it is worth a read:
See the article @ http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-18017636
This morning I was getting my haircut and I mentioned it to my hairdresser. He told me how he had met Vidal on several occasions after being trained at a Sassoon academy. Vidal is not only responsible for setting up the Vidal Sassoon academy infrastructure allowing thousand of people to learn the trade, but he embedded some of his own techniques in every single alumni. A lot of these people will have taught other people the trade and so on, making it impossible to attribute how many people to date have indirectly been influenced by the great man or will be in the future.
Vidal Sassoon has set the benchmark for the every young, old, celebrity and trainee hair stylist to aim to achieve, showing the heights that are achievable.
This post is SalonHero paying our respect. I am not going to write anymore as I never knew or met the man but would like to personally thank him for his great contributions he made to the industry and for being a huge inspiration.
I invite and request that anyone who would like to share a fact, anecdote or sentiment about Vidal Sassoon to post it in the comments section.
