As you may know, Professional Hairdresser Live took place in Manchester this weekend. It was the second edition of the show and, although we did not exhibit we were invited along anyway to check out the show.
We really enjoyed the exhibition with a great balance of some of the most famous brands in the industry (Fudge, American Crew and Matrix) with some new younger looking brands such as Doop (a young unisex hair styling product) and Evo. As well as the hair product companies, there was also some of the leading software companies showcasing their latest innovations in salon management.
The show also featured four sections of seminars for stylists who want to hear tips from the industry leaders. The sections included the Gents Zone, Business Base, Creative Stage and Fellowship Stage.
This event is smaller than other famous beauty and hair shows which obviously means that there are less exhibitors but also means that you won't need the whole day to visit it and find what you want. The word intimate comes to mind and for exhibitors it is less about shouting your message and more about a quiet conversation and finding out about new products you may want.
After chatting to the event organiser Oliver Shannon we learnt this year about 3,000 people showed up for the show, up about 1,100 from the previous one. However, this may be because the first edition of the show had unfortunately coincided with Mothers Day.
The show is exclusively for hair salon owners and stylists which means there will inevitably be less through the door than some of the other shows. This can actually be beneficial for exhibitors as it means there is less hustle bustle in every isle, trying to catch glimpses of name badges to see who is a salon owner and who is not. As a visitor, I can tell you that it was quite nice to be able to walk down the isles with out bumping into 100 different people!
Did you go to the show too? If so, don't hesitate to give your own opinion about it in the comments section below!
